Product Review: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I the only person ever to not like this product?! All I have heard is
praise and amazing reviews. Raving about how ALL makeup is removed
effectively with no rubbing/rinsing and how it gets off a lot more
makeup than most other removers. It also boasts about how there is no
stinging to the eyes as it is for sensitive skin.
I
have had this now for a fair few months and I have tried it multiple
times and as much as I try I just do not like it at all. Is there
something I'm doing wrong?! It appealed to me specifically because it
says for sensitive skin and that there is no perfume so it can be
used around the eye area without stinging. This stings my eyes like
mad! Like really bad. And even after all the stinging it hasn't
actually removed much of my makeup at all... sooo, after a few
attempts at using it and various occasions with seriously stinging eyes, I decided
to try it on my face only and see if it does anything there.
Obviously there is no stinging to the face but I found that it didn't actually
remove my makeup very well at all. I went over it with a Simple face
wipe and I got more makeup off than with the micellar water alone. I don't see what all the hype is about...
The product is very cheap and if it worked for me it would
be great as the bottle will last a very long time. Because I have a
lot of product left I will continue to use it to take off face makeup
as best as it will but I definitely won't be repurchasing... Think
I'll stick to my Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Cleansing Lotion
(which works a treat by the way! I bought mine from Savers.)
Has
anyone else had a bad experience with this product or is it literally
just me?! Haha.

I havent tried this product personally but I've been looking for a good cleansing water and I watched a lot of Ingrid Neilson's YouTube videos. She always RAVES about the brand Simple and how great theirs is so maybe you'd like to try that one. I havent been able to find it in any stores near me but I'm still searching. Thanks for the review though! Now I know not to test out this one! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I really love Simple, great brand with cheap products that work haha. I use the Simple kind to eyes, eye make up remover and that's really good as well as the cleansing facial wipes. But I reckon I will give the Simple micellar water a try. Thanks for the comment! :)

DeleteThanks so much for explaining how this worked for you. I'm not a huge Garnier fan but I probably would have picked this up if I saw it in the stores. At best I may try to find a smaller size or a sample to test myself, but that's for your honest review.
ReplyDeleteYeah that would be a better idea, buying a smaller bottle to see if it works for you. It's cheap and at least then you'll know if it works for you or not before purchasing the larger bottle :)
DeleteI use this everyday to remove my makeup,I find it to be the best remover for my eye makeup as it is so light on my skin, and leaves me with a fresh feeling! Great Blog you deserve many more followers! X

I'm glad you have a better experience with this product than me! I might give it one last try haha... Thanks for your kind comment :) I really appreciate it! x
DeleteI FEEL YOU, GIRL! This product is just really quite average... it doesn't last long [probably because I have had to use so much off it to actually get my makeup off], it burns my eyes, it doesn't budge mascara and it doesn't take my makeup off properly either .. I have to use another cleanser afterwards to get the last bits [which totally defies the point of owning it haha] xx

Haha my thoughts exactly! I think there are much better make-up removers out there which are equally cheap. Not sure what all the buzz is about... glad I'm not the only one who thinks so :P xx
